Wednesday, October 21
During the night, our ship traveled down river to Cernavoda. There’s nothing to see from the banks of the river, but after breakfast, we boarded our busses for a nearly two hour drive to the Constanta, on the shores of the Black Sea. It is one of the oldest cities in Romania, since the days of the Greeks and Romans. Today it is a vacation destination with golden beaches, health spas, vineyards, and ancient monuments and museums.

We walked along the banks of the Black Sea to the Casino, then visited the National History Museum. Augie even took some time to locate a Geo Cache in the area, but he had to disturb a dog and her new litter of pups which had taken up residence in the bush where the cache was hidden. Next, we went to a beautiful stretch of beach, where we had lunch at the Palms Hotel. We had a nice snooze on the long drive back to our ship. Tonight is the Captain’s welcome dinner.
